Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Eric Kufs is not the typical artist in a generation of independent recording artists concentrated on home recording techniques. He is first and foremost a live performer out of necessity. For the better part of the last seven years he has supported himself by busking in Southern California and across the world, as well as performing in clubs. In 2005, he released an album of original songs recorded on the streets of Santa Monica. As the main songwriter for indie folk band Common Rotation, Kufs has released six full-length records and written nearly a thousand songs. With the group, he has recorded with the likes of They Might Be Giants and with his own songwriting hero and mentor, renowned singer/songwriter Dan Bern. But on his soon-to-be-released solo EP, he trades in the ironic folk element of his work with the band for a more sincere, soulful 70s pop sound.- Nancy A.
